Heartwood Hail Mary is Duckett chaos with a game plan – a cask strength single malt where Junior H (Louis) and Mr H (Tim) throw every favourite cask they can at the wall… and it all sticks. Built from bourbon, sherry and port casks plus a good dose of “random samples”, the components are dumped into the infamous sweat box to strip off volatiles before bottling in North Hobart. The result: 58.6% ABV, 500ml, and just 205 individually numbered bottles, filled in October 2021.
The label “tells the story” – this was meant to be a long-shot experiment, but the whisky says otherwise: big, rich, properly Heartwood. Retailer notes talk about a persistent, rich and juicy whisky with thick waves of flavour and an intense but not overcooked palate, rolling into a finish that hangs around long after the last pour.
