Heartwood Fed By The Fuels of Malcontent & Disillusionment is Duckett’s pointed love letter to Nant – a cask strength single malt born from controversy and rebuilt in classic Heartwood style.
This limited release takes Nant-origin spirit from two sherry casks and marries them into a 50-year-old Seppeltsfield tawny (port) cask, creating a whisky that’s more spirit-driven than the usual Heartwood flavour bombs while still carrying deep fortified sweetness and old-oak swagger. Bottled in May 2022 at a formidable 58.5% ABV, only 250 individually numbered 500ml bottles exist.
The name is a cheeky jab at the scandal and collapse surrounding the original Nant operation, but the liquid is all redemption: vibrant Nant character wrapped in layers of sherry and tawny, rich fruit and spice, with a long, firm finish that reminds you this is still very much a Heartwood. Even Tim hints it may be “one of the best Nant origin whiskies you will ever have.”
Heartwood Fed By The Fuels of Malcontent & Disillusionment – born of drama, finished in ancient tawny, and bottled with zero illusions.
